A graduate of The Polytechnic Ibadan, Olabiyi Teniola Joy from the Urban amd Regional Planning Department of the institution has expressed its pained and dissatisfaction from the 34th Convocation which was held on the 13th of December, 2019 at the institution
The statement of the lamentation read thus;

“Right now I am extremely pissed with The Polytechnic, Ibadan. This is not only a slap on my face, but extremely partial, and I need to find a way to question them because I know what I am meant to have!
So, yesterday was the 34th Convocation, not only were most of us not sent messages to inform us of the convocation, just three names from my class were on the convocation list! What the hell is that? As far as I am concerned, I paid my fees and printed my course form before convocation, and for proper documentation, every result was supposed to be ready in preparation for the awards!
My rant now is not about the three names on the list, but for the fact that, an award meant to be mine, which is well known by my colleagues and even lecturers was given to someone else. This is bad!
I have the right to blow my trumpet because I worked hard for this and Polytechnic Ibadan robbed me of that. I won’t forgive them for this except they rectify it!
Urban and Regional Planning claims not to have ever produced a student with Distinction. I worked hard and made distinction in my ND1 with 4.56. I was the only student on this GP. ND 2 came, and I still intensified my effort, but for lack of money, I couldn’t pay my fees on time, so I didn’t see my result, same as ND2 second semester.
Regardless of this, I know if I don’t end up with distinction, I will have the strongest upper credit in my class. And now I’m hearing Best Female Graduating Student Award was given to the only female among the three, someone who has Lower credit! And Overall Best Student was given to a friend of mine with upper credit, even he himself told me he knows it was supposed to be given to me.
I am pained right now, and these people better have a good explanation for my result!
Throughout my schooling, I never for once cheated! Not even in tests! I studied hard to pass! They have no right to take away this little glory from me!
I have no power to fight them, but if this is not sorted, I will cry to God who surpasses all authorities. And because this is rightfully mine, He will fight for me!”
The graduant, Olabiyi Teniola Joy who was part of the 2017/2018 sets of the institution further expressed its pained by calling on everyone to help mention those who needed to be mentioned. The statements was further expressed;
” Still on The Polytechnic, Ibadan issue. I am the only one who can explain how hurtful this is. I am definitely going to my department tomorrow to get cleared on this because until I am cleared, my heart and ego will remain broken. I don’t care if it’s just an handshake! The education system is messed up enough, they shouldn’t rob us of our little wins in the name of protocols or whatever.
I am sure not the only one affected, but that others aren’t talking doesn’t mean I won’t talk either.
Imagine seeing what belongs to you given to someone else because some sets of people think their time is too precious to compile results except the first set. Aren’t they being paid to serve us?! Fingers aren’t equal, and its by the mercies of God that some of us are able to attend school. How can they rubbish our efforts just like that?
I will not stop ranting until these people do something. The Polytechnic, Ibadan knows how to drain us of our pockets over every little thing, and this is what we get?
Never! This country is something else! That you have to know someone who knows someone before being listened to.
Please, I need you to help follow this link and help mention those that needs to be mentioned. I am not on Twitter, and this is my best bet to get to the appropriate quarters.
I am sure if the right bodies read my lamentation, some other things will be rectified. They need to do something on our results! We can’t study for nothing.
Please mention them till they see it. You can mention those that have been mentioned before too.
I believe if I have this on social medias and it gets to the appropriate quarters, I won’t have issues with my department. Because these people might want to use their powers to shut me up and bring up all sorts of protocols to prove themselves right.
They need to stop using paper and pen to do wrongs.
We all are educated here regardless of the level and I know my right.”
However, we hope this we reach the appropriate quarters and this issues will be treated as soon as possible.
