Nokia 2.3 is Nokia’s latest budget smartphone offering and a successor to the previous Nokia 2.2. The new Nokia 2.3 has small improvements here and there compared to its predecessor; it now has a slightly bigger 6.2 display, a bigger 4,000mAh battery and an extra camera at the back.
However, it is still rocking the same Mediatek MT6761 Helio A22 Chipset with 2GB of RAM like it’s the predecessor and runs Android 9.0 Pie, not the Go Edition but the full-fledged Android operating system, which is upgradable to the latest Android 10. Let’s dig out more about this device.

Nokia 2.3 Design And Display
Nokia 2.3 has a typical look for a 2019 budget device. It has a moderate 6.2-inch display which is made out of an IPS LCD panel. The display has a cleaner waterdrop notch housing the camera at the top of the display. Speaking about the display, it is an HD+ display with a 271 pixel per inch density which supports the always-on display.
The back of this device is made out of plastic so no surprises there. On top of that are the dual camera setup and of course an LED flash. The fingerprint sensor is nowhere to be found here – not at the back and definitely not beneath the display.
Meanwhile, the display is covered with a slab of glass for protection with a little chin down below which has Nokia inscribed on it. Nokia 2.3 weighs just 183grams, measures just 8.7 in thickness and comes in three colours for your yo choose from; Cyan Green, Sand and Charcoal.
Camera Review
This device doesn’t have much going for it in the camera department. It has just three cameras, two of which are at the rear while one is in the waterdrop notch at the front. The one at the front for selfies is a 5MP sensor with an f/2.4 aperture while the ones at the back are a 13MP main camera with an f/2.2 aperture and AutoFocus alongside a secondary 2MP depth sensor camera.
The rear camera features an LED flash for photos in low light, HDR for good
dynamic range and Panorama to mimick wide-angle shots. It can also shoot 1080p videos at 30fps as well.
Hardware and Software
Inside the Nokia 2.3 hides the Mediatek MT6761 Helio A22 SoC – a Chipset based on the 11nm manufacturing process with a Quad-Core processor clocked at 2.0GHz and a PowerVR GE8320 GPU. This device only comes in one ram and storage configuration – 3GB RAM with 32GB of internal storage.
Thankfully, it also comes with a microSD card slot which can accommodate up to 400GB of additional storage. Nokia 2.3 has either a single SIM or dual SIM model, both of which comes with a microSD slot for extra storage.
Being part of the Android One family, Nokia 2.3 runs stock Android 9.0 Pie out of the box. This means that there is no skin slapped on top. It is also upgradable to Android 10 which will get you all the latest of the Android operating system.
Battery and Connectivity
Nokia 2.3 has a 4,000mAh battery on the inside, to put that in perspective, that’s 1000mAh more battery its predecessor. Unfortunately, there is no mention of fast charging from Nokia about this device so charging up might take some time.
There is also no NFC. However, there is 4G LTE connectivity, Bluetooth 5.0, WiFi, WiFi hotspot, GPS, FM radio, a 3.5mm jack and a dated microUSB port for file transfer and charging.
Nokia 2.3 Price in Nigeria and Availability
Nokia 2.3 costs about N36,000 Naira in Nigeria and is set to hit the shelves anytime soon as the device was unveiled at an event in Lagos.
