Manchester United star Ashley Young has reportedly told Ole Gunnar Solskjaer he’ll never play for the club again. The veteran is wanted by Serie A giants Inter Milan, who have previously raided the Red Devils for Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez.
Young is one of the last disciples of the Sir Alex Ferguson era, signing for United from Aston Villa during the summer transfer window of 2011.
The England international has proven to be a valuable squad player in the time since, being popular among David Moyes, Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho.
United are facing a threat to keep hold of the winger-turned-defender, with Inter determined to snap him up.
Antonio Conte has already raided the Red Devils for the likes of Lukaku and Sanchez.
And he wants to take Young to the San Siro – and preferably this month.
According to Sky Italia , the United star has personally told Solskjaer that he wants to leave the club.
And, in a further blow, he doesn’t want to don the club’s colours ever again.
Conte reportedly wanted to bring Young to Chelsea when he ruled the roost at Stamford Bridge between 2016 and 2018.
And it appears United now stand little chance of keeping the 34-year-old, who has turned down the offer of a new deal.
Young’s contract at Old Trafford expires at the end of the current season.
But he’d rather make the move to Inter sooner to help Conte try and win the Serie A title at the first time of asking.
The report adds that it appears only a matter of time before Young brings his time at United to an end.
And that seems to be the case, with the Red Devils recalling Cameron Borthwich-Jackson from his loan spell at Tranmere.
Meanwhile, speaking recently, Sky Italy reporter Valentina Fass opened up on Conte’s admiration for Young.
“Conte has always liked the player, apparently also in the summer of 2017 he was interested in the player and would have been keen to have him also with him at Chelsea,” she told Sky Sports News.
On the imminent transfer, she added: “Well it looks like it’s going to be quite a quick one.
“Once they realise that Marcos Alonso was too expensive for them, they identified Ashley Young as the key player who could help the team, who could help Conte.
“So hopefully the deal should be closed quite soon, they want the player now, they want him in this transfer window, even though his contract expires in June and they could have him then.
“They would prefer to have him now, this is the moment they need him, this is the moment which Inter Milan is still fighting with Juventus for the title.”
