Tottenham ‘target £30m-rated AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek on loan amid Harry Kane’s injury issues… with Newcastle and Aston Villa also keen’
Tottenham are reportedly targeting AC Milan forward Krzysztof Piatek with Jose Mourinho keen to sign an attacking player this month to provide short-term cover for the injured Harry Kane.

The England forward is expected to miss the next eight weeks of action after sustaining a hamstring injury in the 1-0 victory over Southampton, prompting Tottenham to consider delving into the transfer market.

According to The Guardian, Piatek, who Milan are willing to sell if they can recoup the £30million they paid for him last January, is being targeted by Tottenham.

Milan re-signed Zlatan Ibrahimovic on a free this month and are ready to strike a deal for Piatek, though an expensive permanent move would not appear to suit Spurs, who would be more open to loaning him for the rest of the season.

Newcastle and Aston Villa are also reportedly keeping tabs on the Poland international, but are taking a similiar stance to Tottenham over the nature of the move.

Mourinho wants to sign a striker this month, having complained about his lack of options in that position after the 1-1 FA Cup draw with Middlesbrough.

However, funds are tight and any deals will depend on chairman Daniel Levy.

Milan have made their position clear and will not be drawn to the negotiating table unless an offer to sign Piatek permanently is made, but is not clear if that will change over the next few weeks.

Piatek was prolific in Italy last season but has struggled for goals this term, scoring just four times.
