Governor Seyi Makinde Directed All Schools To Be Closed

I wish to inform you that His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde has directed that all schools, be it public and private schools be closed down as from Monday, 23rd 2020 till after Easter holiday. The closure affects the Primary, Secondary and Tertiary institutions.

The closure after wide consultation with stakeholders in health and education sectors becomes urgent and imperative due to the outbreak of COVID-19 and the need to take full precautionary measures to ensure the disease does not spread further beyond the government control.

Head of Public Schools and owners and operators of private schools are therefore urged to comply fully with this directive. The Government further enjoins parents and guardians to observe all the safety and hygiene rules while the children are at home.
