Here’s how we rated the Chelsea team in the Premier League clash against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane
Kepa Arrizabalaga
Outstanding save to stop Oli McBurnie’s deflected effort find the net, only for David McGoldrick to fire home the rebound. Was stationary for their next strike as the former headed home from close range. Little to do in terms of saves throughout and couldn’t do anything about the third. 5
Reece James
Put in an outstanding cross inside the opening 10 minutes for Christian Pulisic but then let the hosts get down his side far too easy for the second goal. Played as wing-back after the break but couldn’t help out in an attacking sense. 4
Kurt Zouma
Switched off for a split second for the opening goal as McGoldrick reacted to find the net after Kepa had saved well. Should’ve done better for the third goal as he didn’t close down Lys Mousset quick enough. Poor after recent good displays. 3
Andreas Christensen
At fault for the second goal as he let McBurnie peel off him for the striker to have a free header that he buried beyond Kepa. Struggled throughout the opening period against the Blades’ front two and was unsurprisingly hooked by Frank Lampard as he made a double sub at the break. 3
Cesar Azpilicueta
Started at left-back but ended up on the right of a three-man defence after the restart. Final ball was lacking in the opening half when he did get forward. 4
Jorginho
Back in the team after his 10-minute cameo at Crystal Palace in midweek but couldn’t have the same impact. Not as much time on the ball with the Blades closing him down quickly. 4
Mason Mount
Really should have cleared the ball in his own 18-yard box for the opener before Sander Berge dispossessed him. The England international struggled up against the tall Norwegian player and he had no influence on the game before his half-time substitution. 3
Ross Barkley
Saw a lot of the ball and used it well at times in the first half as he looked to help the team find the net. Just didn’t have an impact in the final third. 4
Willian
Lost Enda Stevens for the second goal as he played a quick one-two and put the cross in for McBurnie to double the lead. Excellent recently but couldn’t repeat those high levels at Bramall Lane. 4
Christian Pulisic
Saw an early header go over and caused a few problems for United’s defence with his blistering pace. Has been excellent for Chelsea since the lockdown but the hosts nullified him and get him quiet for the majority of the game. Substituted off with 25 minutes remaining. 4
Tammy Abraham
Replaced Olivier Giroud in the starting XI but had next to nothing to do for the majority of the game. However, had a couple of openings after the break as the Blues pushed on to find a way back into the game. Extremely frustrating outing for the frontman. 4
Substitutes
Antonio Rudiger (Andreas Christensen, 46)
On at the break and flashed a header wide from Willian’s corner in the final 20 minutes. Poor play for the third goal as he just couldn’t clear his lines as McGoldrick swept the ball home for his second of the evening. 3
Marcos Alonso (Mason Mount, 46)
Offered Chelsea more of an attacking outlet following his introduction. 4
Olivier Giroud (Christian Pulisic, 65)
Went close with his first effort seconds after coming on for Pulisic and had a header saved by Dean Henderson. Tried to make things happen as he put pressure on the home defence. 6
Callum Hudson-Odoi (Reece James, 75)
Looked bright in his short time on the pitch and put in a couple of good crosses. 5
Ruben Loftus-Cheek (Ross Barkley, 77)
Not a lot of time to make an impact. 4
