STAFF, students and the various staff unions in the Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, have applauded the reappointment of Professor Adebayo Ninalowo as the pro- chancellor and chairman of the governing council of the institution, saying it was a welcome development.
A former executive secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC) and director of the LASU Africa Centre of Excellence for Innovative and Transformative STEM Education (LASU-ACEITSE), Professor Peter Okebukola, said having Ninalowo back for another four-year term would certainly bring further development to the university.
He said the landmark achievements recorded by LASU in the last four years are testament to the quality support and cooperation of the council led by Ninalowo with the management.
According to him, Ninalowo has a deep understanding of the dynamics of Nigerian university system and he brought it to bear in LASU.
In separate interviews with Tribune Education, the chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Dr Adeola Bakare; and his counterparts in Non-Academic Staff Union, Mr Moruf Sanni; Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Dr Saheed Oseni; and National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT), Dr Ola Gbadamosi, as well as the president of the Students’ Union, Mr Abdulbasit Ashade, all agreed that Ninalowo did well in his first term.
They, however, urged him not to rest on his laurels but to continue to join hands with the management and other stakeholders to further move LASU forward.
