Romelu Lukaku has just completed a club-record £98m pounds transfer back to Chelsea from Inter Milan, officially becoming a Blue once again after signing contract papers today.
The Belgian forward will also break another record of his own, as he becomes the English Premier League’s most expensive striker!
Finally, it’s official as far as official gets! Eight years, 193 goals, 3 clubs since leaving Chelsea and now, the prodigal son returns home to fulfill his destiny.
While speaking to journalists at his unveiling today, Thursday August 12, Romelu Lukaku said;
“I’m happy, blessed to be back at this wonderful club. I have supported Chelsea as a kid. The way the club is going fits my ambitions perfectly and just coming off winning Serie A. This opportunity comes at the right time and we can have a lot of success together”
Inter Milan had initially been reluctant to sell Lukaku, their top goalscorer last season in which they went on to lift the Italian Scudetto, but Chelsea tested their resolve with a staggering and tempting offer, and this is it…
Romelu Lukaku is back at Chelsea in a club-record €115m deal (£98m), on a five-year contract, and just a day after the Blues victory in the 2021 UEFA Super Cup against Villarreal.
